H.E. Mr Philippe Orengo, Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco to the Holy See, presents credentials

H.E. Mr Philippe Orengo presented his credentials to His Holiness Pope Francis on 22 October 2022, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Holy See.

The ceremony, held at the Apostolic Palace, afforded an opportunity for a private meeting with the Holy Father in his private library. This was followed by a private meeting with H.E. Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, in his residence.

The Holy Father, who sent his deepest respects to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and His family, as well as wishes for their happiness and prosperity, showed a particular interest in the special foundation of the relationship with the Principality, born of the shared belief in the great universal ideals spearheaded by the Holy See, and the joint opportunity to engage in long-term work for the common good of humanity.

The Secretary of State expressed his regret that he had not been able to meet the Sovereign Prince and His wife last July, due to an overseas trip, and sent them his warmest greetings and personal best wishes. During his meeting with the Ambassador, which focused on the same key themes that had been discussed with the Supreme Pontiff, the Cardinal was pleased to note the excellent relationship with the Principality. Welcoming the Sovereign Prince’s desire to work on making these ties ever stronger, he indicated the Holy See’s interest in the invitation extended for the Holy Father to visit the Principality.
