A wedding ring is a symbol of commitment, attachment, love, and affection in a relationship, a pure reminder of how much  your spouse means to you. The ring,  shaped like a circle, has no beginning or end, symbolising  eternal love. It was believed that the vein in the fourth finger of the left hand leads directly to the heart, therefore, the wedding ring should be worn on this finger.

Wearing your wedding ring shows that you are attached to the person you are married to and that they hold significant meaning in your life. A wedding ring should be always personal, meaningful for you and your spouse. However, not so many know that the metal and colour of the ring also has an underlying meaning. Rosรฉ gold wedding rings represent deep love. Yellow gold represents tradition and faithfulness. White gold  represents friendship. Platinum has also become popular due to its hypoallergenic characteristic that will not irritate those with sensitive skin.

When one is looking for inspiration it is easy to be enchanted by the most interesting royal wedding rings. American actress, Grace Patricia Kelly became Princess of Monaco by marrying Prince Rainier III in April 1956, at the age of 26.

Prince Rainier III originally imagined a stunning eternity band, designed by Cartier, featuring red rubies and white diamonds to represent the colours of Monacoโ€™s flag. This was the original ring that the Prince used when he proposed to Grace Kelly in December 1955.

The final wedding ring was a stunning, 10.48-carat emerald-cut ring flanked by two baguette-cut side stones, resulting in one of the most astonishing pieces of jewellery also from Cartier.

Why did Grace Kelly change the ring? She did not,

it was her costume designer during the filming of โ€œHigh Societyโ€, who wanted to have a larger ring for the picture. The movie was to be the last that Kelly would star in before she retired and moved to Monaco, and when Rainier heard that the costume designer was going to source a fake ring for Kellyโ€™s character, he offered to buy her one instead as a second engagement ring, resulting in one of the most astonishing pieces of jewelry many have ever laid eyes on.
