Launch of an Interuniversity Degree (IUD) in Monegasque Law

An educational partnership was signed at the Palais de Justice on Thursday 29 August 2024 between the Monegasque Institute for Training in the Legal Professions (IMFPJ) and the faculties of law and political science of the Université Côte d’Azur and Université Aix-Marseille to create a first-of-its-kind Interuniversity Degree in Monegasque Law.

The signing of the agreement by Sylvie Petit-Leclair, Secretary of Justice, and Professor Jeanick Brisswalter, President of the Université Côte d’Azur, in the presence of Professor Yves Strickler, Scientific Director of the IMFPJ and the initial proponent of the project, and Professor Jean-Baptiste Perrier, nominated by Université Aix-Marseille to lead the programme in Aix-en-Provence, is an important milestone in Monegasque law and for future law practitioners in the Principality.

Thanks to this new three-year Interuniversity Degree, law students at Université de Nice and Université Aix-en-Provence can study Monegasque law beginning this fall in tandem with their degree programme. Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas in Paris, already active in discussions, will join the educational partnership with the IMFPJ in September 2025.

This degree course will offer students in Nice and Aix this year – and Paris next year – a solid institutional and legal base in Monegasque law and contribute to its promotion.
