Monaco resident Liudmila Sun exhibited her paintings on gold and silver at Espace 22.

Offering more than 700 events a year, the Principality of Monaco has always maintained a unique relationship with the artistic universe, mixing a great diversity of cultures and inspirations and welcoming a multitude of young creators and contemporary artists.

Living in Monaco magazine sponsored a group exhibition organised by Espace 22, featuring three amazing women artists; the fine art photographer Maja Kerin Cosignani, artist Maria Mikileva and painter Liudmila Sun.

Monaco resident Liudmila Sun was originally born in Moldova and studied Fine Arts and Design at home as well as in Milan, Italy. She has rediscovered a long-lost technique: painting on gold and silver. She spreads a thin layer of gold or silver leaf on the canvas and paints on it.

My passion for art stems from my childhood, with the great French Impressionists being my idols. Now residing in Monaco, I draw inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes of the Côte d’Azur, capturing unique moments of colour and light “en plein-air” and painting on large canvas in the studio. In my visions, our lives are made by light, and the sun is the greatest source of inspiration,” – says Liudmila.

Culture and art are essential, and we need to safeguard them for future generations as well. Our respect goes out to the team at Espace 22, who are working exactly with these intentions in their hearts and minds.

“Our philosophy at Living in Monaco magazine is that a country cannot afford to be materially rich and spiritually poor, as the two are connected and dependent on each other,” – says Zsolt Szemerszky, the founder of Living in Monaco magazine.
