    The “lycée” is a secondary school for the second phase of secondary education. 

    The various options for secondary education at a lycée are: 

    − The general education prepares students for General Baccalaureate, in Economics and Social Sciences (Baccalaureate ES category), in Literature (L category), in Science (S category) 

    − The technology option, which leads to specific baccalaureates in the service, industry or hotel and catering sectors 

    − The professional option, which opens up to three sectors: hotel and catering, industry and services 

    General Education 

    This option prepares students for the General Baccalaureate and for higher education at a University or a foundation course for the Grandes Ecoles (prestigious higher education institutions that are not universities). 

    It offers three categories:
    − ES category: General Baccalaureate in Economics and Social Sciences − S category: General Baccalaureate in Science
    − L category: General Baccalaureate in Literature 

    Technological Education 

    Technological education prepares students for short graduate courses. 

    There are 3 sections available: 

    − STG category: Technological Secondary Education Diploma in Science and the Technology of Management 

    − STI2D category: Technological Secondary Education Diploma in the 

    Education Science and Technology of Industry and Sustainable Development, 

    Energy and Environment option 

    − Hotels and Catering category: Technological Secondary Education Diploma in Hotels and Catering 

    Vocational Training 

    This channel is available to students at the end of Secondary School (Classe de 3eme – Year 10) in three areas of specialisation: Hotels and Catering, Service Sector and Industrial Sector. 

    The courses last 3 years and lead to one of the following eight professional diplomas: 

    − Hotels and Catering Category
    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Cookery 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Marketing and Catering Services 

    − Service Sector Category 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Secretarial 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Accounting 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in ARCU Reception and Customer and User Services 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Commerce − Industrial Sector Category 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Maintenance of Industrial Equipment 

    − Vocational Secondary Education Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Energy, Equipment and Electronic Communications Devices 

    Once students receive a vocational diploma, they can continue their studies at the graduate level.
