A little bit of Royal life

A little bit of Royal life

He was an owner of a small business company and he wanted to create his annual event in the Principality. He knew for sure that this year he wanted something special, something unique. Since many months now there was this little idea in his head but he always considered it something impossible. “Why would they do it for me?” “Who am I to gain this respect and attention?”

He was swirled with doubts for many weeks, but today he decided to make that call. His hands were shaking while he lifted up his mobile and dialled the number. Between dialing, he started to feel the heat in his body and the pressure inside his head. When he finished the dialing, he started to sweat, and between the ring tones, tiny water pearls fell down on his forehead. Every ring on the phone felt like long minutes for him and his heart pumped in a way he could not control.

After four rings, someone picked up the phone on the other end. A very kind voice welcomed him, but he started to sweat even more when he asked the big question with his shaking voice. The answer was quite surprising for him:

– So you are asking about the Prince of Monaco generating some buzz for your event by his appearance, right?

– Yes. – he answered with a shaky vibration and full of fear from rejection in his voice.

– No problem we can forward to the Prince your kind invitation and approach.

– And how much will it be? – he asked the standard question.

– It is FREE. If the Prince is available he will definitely consider your request.

They changed contact details and they said good bye to each other. The next day, he received the answer and the confirmation for his request.

It is always surprising to see how flexible H.S.H. Prince Albert II is when you are aiming to involve him into an event, which also strengthens the name and the value of the Principality of Monaco.

Especially with events which are related to the aims of his Foundation – the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation – which aims to protect the environment and to encourage sustainable development.

The Sovereign Prince is also a great humanitarian and is often involved in events, which are related to various humanitarian projects.

If you are lucky, you can also meet with the Prince on many occasions where he is very direct with all the guests. Even if close friends of the Prince suggest that he does not really like it, you can take a photo with him, shake his hand, and you can also have a very nice conversation with him. He is always curious about the new and exciting things, and is happy to carry on good conversations. I would consider him a perfect “host” of his beloved home country.

As I mentioned before, the Princely family maintains a relatively close relationship with the Monégasque people and the Monaco residents.

During the past years, I had a chance to talk with many Monégasque people who were born and raised in the Principality. Most of them also refer to H.S.H. Prince Rainier III (Rainier Louis Henri Maxence Bertrand Grimaldi; 31 May 1923 – 6 April 2005), the father of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, as the grandfather of Monaco. Some locals even called him “le patron”, which basically means “the boss”. This also shows the mark that this exceptional Princely relationship has left on the hearts of the people.
