First phase of Stade Louis II refurbishment gets under way

This summer, the Prince’s Government ordered work to begin on modernising the refreshment areas, toilets, and grandstands at the Stade Louis II.

Led by the Department of Public Works in close cooperation with the stadium’s management team, the project aims to deliver an improved experience for spectators and users with revamped refreshment areas, more modern toilets, a new stand layout to ensure smooth crowd movement, and more comfortable and accessible spaces. Upgrades will be made to bring the facilities up to the standards of safety and quality expected for major international competitions.

The work will be carried out in phases between 2025 and 2027, so the stadium can continue to host important sporting events, including AS Monaco home matches, the Herculis athletics meeting, and the Games of the Small States of Europe. While work is going on, some facilities will be temporarily relocated and alternative arrangements made to ensure spectator comfort.

This initial phase marks the start of a wider modernisation plan for the Stade Louis II, part of a long-term vision going forward to 2035. The phased approach will ensure the Principality remains a major sporting hub, balancing the need to bring the facilities up to modern standards while continuing to host of major events.
