Tracy Nahar’s BAÍAH, Where Timeless Swimwear Meets Monaco Chic

Monaco-based entrepreneur and designer Tracy Nahar is the visionary behind BAÍAH Swimwear, a luxury brand that blends refined aesthetics, sustainability, and soulful storytelling. Born in the heart of Monte-Carlo and inspired by Tracy’s Caribbean roots, BAÍAH is more than just swimwear; it’s a celebration of confidence, craftsmanship, and coastal living. From its elegant runway debut at Miami Swim Week 2025 to its intimate showcase high above the rooftops of Monaco, BAÍAH has quickly become synonymous with timeless design and empowered femininity, anchored in family values and guided by a deeply personal journey.

Monaco resident Tracy Nahar is the inspiration behind BAÍAH Swimwear, the luxury swimwear brand born in the heart of Monte-Carlo.

Known for its refined designs, eco-conscious values, and commitment to empowering women through fashion, BAÍAH perfectly embodies the spirit of the Monaco community—sophisticated, international, and forward-thinking. The brand’s collections are celebrated for their timeless appeal, seamless craftsmanship, and deep respect for the environment.

Founder of the brand, Tracy was raised in the Caribbean, a place that shaped her love for the ocean and natural beauty. She later moved to Miami for university and spent over a decade traveling the world for work. She moved to Monaco in 2020—and although it started as a professional relocation, it quickly became home.

Originally, it was my legal work that brought me here. But Monaco is unlike anywhere I’ve lived before. There’s a rhythm here—a balance of sophistication and serenity—that allows me to raise a family, grow a business, and still feel grounded. It’s a place that supports ambition without losing sight of beauty,” – says Tracy.

What inspired you to launch BAÍAH, and how did the brand name come about?

BAÍAH began as a quiet idea I carried for years. I wanted to create swimwear that was refined, lasting, and made women feel confident and sensual. The name is deeply personal—it’s a blend of letters from my husband’s and children’s names. The brand is rooted in family, but built for women everywhere who want to feel elegant in their skin.

How does Baíah differentiate itself from other luxury swim brands?

BAÍAH is a love story I keep falling deeper into with every collection. It’s not just about creating beautiful swimwear—it’s about designing pieces that fit incredibly well, last through time, and make women feel their absolute best.

Their niche is clear: luxury swimwear that lasts, made from premium, sustainable materials and developed to fit and flatter every body. Tracy and her team prioritize fit as much as form. Every seam, curve, and fabric choice is made to sculpt, support, and move with you—whether you’re lounging at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club or diving into the sea in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

BAÍAH is rooted in the spirit of quiet luxury: timeless design, elevated simplicity, and pieces that don’t shout—but always stand out. Each season, I fall in love with the brand all over again. And seeing women of all ages and sizes light up in a piece they truly feel good in—that’s the magic for me.

Describe the creative journey from moodboard to final piece.

It usually starts with a spark—a halter neckline, an open back, or a sporty silhouette I can’t stop thinking about. I begin sketching and build a moodboard that ties in fabric, hardware, and movement. From there, it’s a back-and-forth process: editing, refining, sampling, fitting. By the time a piece is finalized, it’s been lived in—tested for comfort, structure, and how it makes you feel.

How do you choose colors and prints each season?

I usually start with one anchor color—something that sets the mood. Turquoise and orange were at the heart of our first collections. Then I add complementary tones that create harmony or contrast, depending on the story I want to tell. Our prints are abstract and always inspired by the Mediterranean—the sea, the shadows, the shapes of nature that catch my eye.

Baiah and Family

In 2025, BAÍAH expanded its signature aesthetic vision with the launch of Baby BAÍAH, a graceful new line dedicated to stylish swimwear for children—further reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of nurturing beauty, elegance, and confidence from a young age—an irresistibly charming, matching collection designed for mothers and their little explorers.

Baby BAÍAH is a celebration of togetherness — the magical moments shared between mother and daughter, woven into the spirit of adventure. We’ve taken the much-loved Martinique silhouette and reimagined it for little explorers, maintaining our signature luxury feel while ensuring comfort and playful practicality. It’s about embracing every chapter of the journey, hand in hand,” – Tracy shares.

Inspired by the elegance of the beloved Martinique One-Piece from the Sojourn Collection, Baby BAÍAH brings playful sophistication to sun-drenched days by the sea, creating picture-perfect moments for families who cherish adventure and style.

How do you balance statement-making styles with functional swimwear?

I always begin with a silhouette or design detail that excites me—something bold, clean, or unexpected. From there, I refine it for movement, comfort, and support. The goal is to create swimwear that feels architectural but effortless—pieces you can live in, not just pose in,” – explains Tracy.

What’s the most challenging aspect of designing swimwear?

Swimwear is highly technical. The biggest challenge is making sure the fabric, construction, and design all align to support the body. A sketch might look perfect on paper, but if it doesn’t move with the wearer or hold its shape in water, it doesn’t work. Getting that balance right takes time, but it’s worth every refinement.

Designed for girls aged 2, 4, 6, and 8 years old, the collection allows stylish mothers and daughters to embark on their sun-soaked adventures together, perfectly coordinated. Whether building sandcastles on secluded shores, diving into turquoise waters, or sharing sunset strolls along the coast, Baby BAÍAH ensures that every memory is wrapped in elegance and joy.

You’re a mother of three—how do you balance running a swimwear brand and raising a family?

I enjoy being busy—it keeps me grounded. But balance is about knowing that not every day will be perfectly split. Some days are work-focused, others are family-centered. I try to give each moment my full attention, and I’ve learned to be okay with imperfection. What matters is being present in whatever role I’m in that day.

What do you love most about living in Monaco with your children?

Monaco gives me peace of mind. I know my children are safe, in great schools, and surrounded by a multicultural, inspiring community. It’s also logistically ideal—I can run my business, meet with clients, and still be home in time for dinner. That kind of balance is rare, and I’m grateful for it every day.

Crafted with the same attention to detail and commitment to sustainability as the main collection, Baby BAÍAH celebrates the joy of shared experiences and the bonds that connect us across generations.

Sustainability & Swimwear Fashion

What sustainability practices are integrated into BAÍAH’s production?

Sustainability is a core value at BAÍAH. We use sustainable fabrics like ECONYL® for linings and selected styles, and incorporate recycled materials into our resortwear. Our packaging is recyclable and we’re constantly working to reduce plastic across all aspects of production. For me, creating a beautiful product means being responsible about how and why we make it.

Who is your ideal customer—demographically and stylistically?

We design primarily for women—especially mothers—who value quality, style, and functionality. With the launch of Baby BAÍAH, we’ve expanded into family swim, and we hope to include men soon. But at our core, we’re for women who want to feel good in their skin—who live boldly, travel well, and believe that true style should feel effortless.

Creative Inspiration

How does the Riviera lifestyle influence your creativity and daily routine?

It’s everything. The colors, the light, the architecture—it all inspires my work. There’s a refined simplicity in the way people live here. Mornings by the sea, afternoons in the market, dinners that last until the sky fades to pink. That sense of ease and beauty is something I try to bring into every collection.

Do your children inspire your work in any way—through colors, moods, or practicality?

Absolutely—they’re at the heart of everything I do. They’re the reason I work hard, the reason I care so deeply about building something with purpose. I want them to be proud of the work I do, and more importantly, to see that with focus and integrity, you can create something beautiful and lasting.

They’ve shaped the values behind Baíah—from our commitment to sustainability to the recent launch of Baby Baíah. But even beyond that, they inspire me to lead by example—to show them what it looks like to work with passion, to take risks, and to stay true to yourself.

How do you find time for yourself between being a mother, designer, and entrepreneur?

I carve out small but important windows—whether it’s for exercise, a walk by the sea, or a quiet moment in the morning. I’ve learned that taking care of myself isn’t indulgent—it’s essential. I can’t pour into my family or my business if I’m running on empty.

What other business activities are you involved with?

I continue to work as a lawyer, and that’s a big part of who I am. I love finding solutions for my clients—it challenges me intellectually and keeps me sharp.

Is there a place in Monaco that feels especially peaceful or creatively energizing for you?

Sunset at Larvotto is where I reset—it’s the one place I go when I need clarity. Whether I’ve had a long day juggling work and family or I’m in the middle of designing a collection, standing by the water helps me refocus.

That moment—just me, the sea, and the light—brings everything back into perspective. It’s in those simple, solitary moments that I do my best thinking.

BAiAH Made Waves at Miami Swim Week 2025

BAÍAH participated in Miami Swim Week 2025. The brand brought unapologetic beauty and Mediterranean confidence to the runway, showcasing their latest collection, bold swimwear looks and unforgettable fashion moments at the iconic Mondrian Hotel.

Known for its elegant fusion of resort glamour and effortless sensuality, BAÍAH Swimwear captivated an international audience with a lineup that exuded bold femininity, impeccable craftsmanship, and timeless design. The collection, inspired by the sun-drenched spirit of the Côte d’Azur, was a standout at one of the swimwear industry’s most prestigious global events.

Can you share a memorable peek behind the scenes—from fitting to launch?

Some of the most meaningful moments happen during fittings with close friends. These are women I admire—not just for their style, but for their honesty. I have them try on pieces in the early stages, and while I love when they light up in a design, it’s their feedback that truly shapes the final product.

It’s in those moments—laughing, adjusting, listening—that Baíah really comes to life. Each comment, each suggestion, brings us closer to creating a piece that feels just right. And when the collection finally launches, and they see their input reflected in the finished product, I’m both grateful and in awe.

Models strutted poolside in a striking blend of neutrals and bold colors, with signature BAÍAH silhouettes that included high-waisted bottoms, sleek one-pieces, and elegant cover-ups. Flowing kaftans, gold accents, and sculptural details added to the visual drama — creating runway moments that were both refined and rebellious.

The energy of the show matched Miami’s electric vibe, with influencers, stylists, and press in attendance, applauding BAÍAH’s unique aesthetic: rooted in timeless European style yet designed for the modern global woman.

I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by women who believe in the brand and help make it better with every step,” – concludes Tracy.

Monaco Showcase

Right after the Miami Swim Week 2025, Tracy and her team also created an exclusive preview for Monaco residents.

Organised by Living in Monaco magazine and Niche Media, the event welcomed over 110 guests for an unforgettable evening of networking, elegance, and summer celebration high above the Principality.

One of the highlights of the evening was a sunset swimwear fashion show by the bold and beautiful BAÍAH Swimwear. The rooftop runway came alive with models showcasing sleek, confident designs that perfectly captured the spirit of Mediterranean summer, drawing admiring applause from guests.

Set against panoramic views of Monte-Carlo’s iconic skyline, the gathering once again proved to be one of Monaco’s most cherished social occasions—where residents, newcomers, entrepreneurs, and luxury enthusiasts connect in a warm and stylish atmosphere.

Family as an Entrepreneurial Motivation

Has becoming a mother changed your perspective on fashion or the kind of legacy you want to build?

Motherhood has made me more intentional. It’s not about chasing trends—it’s about creating things that last. I want my children to see that success isn’t about money or fame, but about integrity, care, and contributing something meaningful.

What values do you try to pass on to your kids through your work and lifestyle?

I want them to know that hard work matters. You don’t have to be perfect, but you do need to try—again and again. I also want them to value honesty, creativity, and the courage to build something that feels true to who they are.

How do you foresee BAÍAH evolving over the next decade?

I see BAÍAH growing into a complete lifestyle brand—offering not just swimwear, but resortwear, beach accessories, and perhaps even home and scent. I want Baíah to be synonymous with elevated coastal living: sustainable, beautiful, and designed to last.

What personal motto or design philosophy do you live by?

My dad always said, “A time and a place.” It’s stayed with me ever since. For me, it’s a reminder that everything has its moment—whether it’s a decision, a design, or a season in life. You don’t have to force things.

When you trust the timing and respect the process, things have a way of falling into place. It’s become a quiet philosophy I carry into my work, my family, and the way I live.

What advice would you give to emerging swimwear designers?

Find your voice and hold onto it. Swimwear is intimate—what you design has to make people feel something. Understand who you’re designing for and why.

Be clear, be consistent, and don’t try to be everything to everyone. If you know your purpose, you’ll make better decisions—and your brand will reflect that strength.
