A trusted international adviser with more than two decades of experience, Anastasia Pugacheva has built her career on the principles that define Monaco itself: trust, discretion, integrity and a long-term vision for lasting success.
Monaco has long been a destination for the world’s most influential entrepreneurs, investors and multi generational families—not simply for its prestige, but for the values it embodies: stability, discretion and a long-term vision. Here, reputation is cultivated over decades, trust is the foundation of every meaningful relationship, and enduring success is measured by legacy rather than visibility.
It is within this distinctive landscape that Anastasia Pugacheva has built her reputation as a trusted international adviser, drawing on more than two decades of experience guiding clients across Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
Rather than pursuing the spotlight, Anastasia has dedicated her career to helping business leaders and families navigate complexity with clarity, integrity and strategic foresight. Her move to Monaco was a natural extension of the principles that have always defined her work and the clients she serves. We sat down with Anastasia Pugacheva to discuss the future of international advisory, the evolving needs of global entrepreneurs and investors, and why trust remains the most valuable currency in today’s interconnected world.
Every remarkable journey begins with a defining moment. Looking back, where does your story truly begin?
“I believe my story began with curiosity. Even as a child, I was fascinated by understanding why things worked the way they did—why some businesses flourished while others struggled, why certain countries created opportunity, and why trust so often became the difference between short-term success and enduring achievement.
My father had a profound influence on me. He was a self-made entrepreneur, and watching him build his own path taught me the importance of vision, discipline, resilience, and the courage to think independently. He showed me that success is not about following someone else’s formula; it is about having the confidence to create your own. That perspective has stayed with me throughout my career.
When I entered the world of auditing and corporate restructuring, I quickly realised that numbers are only one part of the story. Behind every balance sheet is an entrepreneur with a vision, a family, team who depend on the business, years of dedication, sacrifice, and ambition.
Today, I have the privilege of advising entrepreneurs, investors, and international families across Europe, the UAE, and Monaco. What inspires me most is helping people create businesses that are not only successful, but resilient, sustainable, and built to endure for generations.”
As a young woman, what ambitions quietly shaped the future you were destined to build?
“I always aspired to independence—the freedom to support myself, think independently, create opportunities, and make my own decisions.
Growing up in Sochi, on the Black Sea coast — often referred to as the Russian Riviera — gave me a unique perspective. It was a place where different worlds existed side by side. I saw ambition, success, privilege, and also the importance of opportunity. From an early age, I understood that education and determination could open doors.
I was never focused on titles or appearances. I was interested in building something meaningful and becoming someone who could create value for others.”
Was there an experience that ignited your passion for international business, corporate structuring, and taxation?
“Working internationally transformed the way I view business and opportunity.
Collaborating with people from different cultures showed me that while every country has its own unique approach, certain principles remain universal; above all, trust, integrity, and long-term relationships.
For me, international structuring and taxation have never been about simply creating solutions on paper; they are about understanding the bigger picture, connecting markets, and building sustainable strategies that support businesses and entrepreneurs as they grow across borders.”
What were the greatest challenges during your early years, and how did they shape your character?
“The biggest challenge was proving myself.
As a young woman entering a profession where experience and reputation carry so much weight, I learned that trust is earned through consistency. You cannot ask people to believe in you — you have to show them why they should.
After my professional training at KPMG and becoming a Fellow Member of ACCA in the UK, and Fellow Member of EAAA, in the UAE, I founded my audit firm in Cyprus in 2011 and thereafter in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
At times of European Banking crisis, affecting Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Baltic countries and to a lesser extent Italy multiple international bailout programs were agreed, testing the resilience of banking industry worldwide. Era when in the years that followed, entrepreneurs continued to navigate unprecedented uncertainty — from the geopolitical upheavals going back to 2013 changing the financial landscape we currently live in.
Building and advising businesses through these periods has been one of the most valuable experiences of my career. It taught me that the best advisers are the ones who remain calm when others feel uncertain, provide clarity when the path ahead seems unclear, and stand beside their clients when circumstances are at their most challenging. In times of crisis, technical expertise becomes the foundation; but trust, resilience, and sound judgment become what we remember most.”
Was there a defining moment when you realised your expertise could transform not only businesses, but the lives behind them?
“It happened gradually. Before establishing my audit practice, I was a founder and CFO of an IT company developing software solutions. That experience was very different from traditional accounting and audit, and I am grateful for it because it encouraged me to challenge conventional thinking. But my clients taught me the bigger lesson.
When somebody comes to you with a tax matter, a restructuring or an investment decision, the issue itself is often only the beginning. Behind it may be a business they spent twenty years building. Their children. A relocation. A succession decision. A fear of losing something they worked very hard to create. Once you understand that, you cannot advise purely from a technical perspective. Of course the advice must be technically sound. But you also need to understand what it means for the person sitting in front of you.”
Today you advise entrepreneurs, investors, and international families. What philosophy has earned you their confidence and long-term trust?
“Honesty.
Sometimes, perhaps, uncompromisingly so. If someone entrusts me with an important decision, I believe they deserve my genuine opinion — not simply the answer they hope to hear.
There are times when the right advice is to walk away, when the most sophisticated structure is not the wisest one, or when preserving what has already been built matters more than pursuing the next opportunity.
In the end, people rarely remember every detail of your advice — they remember whether they trusted your judgment. And that trust is the foundation of every lasting relationship.”
In a world where wealth is often measured in numbers, how do you define true value?
“True wealth is freedom. It is the freedom to choose how you spend your time, where you live, how you protect your family, and what kind of future you want to create. Wealth can provide opportunities, but peace of mind comes from knowing that what you have built is protected and aligned with your values.”
Monaco attracts the world’s most discerning business leaders. What makes the Principality the ideal environment for international structuring and strategic planning?
“Monaco represents much more than a favourable environment for business. It represents quality, stability, security, and a certain life style. People who choose Monaco are often looking beyond immediate success. They value discretion, excellence, and legacy mindset. It attracts individuals who are not only building wealth, but preserving it for future generations.”
The world of tax and corporate structuring is often perceived as technical. How do you transform complexity into opportunity for your clients?
“The first step is always understanding the person behind the structure. Every entrepreneur has a different vision, family situation, and long-term objective. The structure should serve that vision.”
Elegance is often associated with fashion, yet there is also elegance in business. What does elegance mean to you as a leader?
“For me, elegance is simplicity. Elegance in business is knowing what is essential and removing what is not. It is also how you behave under pressure. Anybody can appear composed when everything is perfect.
I pay much more attention to how people communicate when there is a disagreement, a problem or an unexpected change. You can be strong without being aggressive. You can be decisive without humiliating somebody. You can say no without destroying a relationship. That, to me, is elegance. And perhaps Monaco understands this particularly well: real luxury rarely needs to shout.”
You are admired not only for your expertise but also for your generosity. How has compassion become one of the foundations of your success?
“Business is ultimately about people. A company may appear on paper as assets, liabilities, revenue and profit, but somebody created it. Somebody took the risk. Somebody had sleepless nights because of it. When you remember that, you listen differently.
Empathy does not mean avoiding difficult decisions. Sometimes compassion means being very clear with someone because allowing them to continue in the wrong direction would be far worse.”
Every successful woman has moments of doubt. Was there a time when you questioned your path, and what brought you back stronger?
“Of course. Doubt is part of any meaningful journey. Whenever I faced uncertainty, I returned to my values. They have always been my reference point.
My family, especially my two children, have also been a tremendous source of strength. They remind me why resilience matters and why the example we set is often more powerful than the words we say.”
How do you balance the precision required in your profession with intuition, empathy, and emotional intelligence?
“Technical knowledge gives you the foundation. Experience gives you perspective. Intuition often tells you where to look more carefully. And empathy tells you how a technically correct decision will affect the people involved.
My profession is built on evidence, and that will never change. But after more than two decades in business, you also learn to recognise patterns — in companies and in people. The strongest decisions usually come when the analytical and human sides work together.”
What qualities do the world’s most successful entrepreneurs have in common, regardless of their industry?
“1. Vision
2. Resilience
3. Execution.
The most successful entrepreneurs I have met are always willing to learn. They remain humble, regardless of their achievements, and understand that success is not a destination but a continuous process of growth.
In a world of turbulence, those who keep evolving with it, are the ones who continue leading.”
Luxury today is increasingly defined by time, privacy, and peace of mind. How do you help your clients protect what matters most?
“By creating clarity. When people understand their opportunities, risks, and responsibilities, they can make decisions with confidence.
In my experience, true peace of mind comes not from eliminating uncertainty, but from knowing you are prepared for it. For many successful individuals, the greatest luxury is the freedom to enjoy what they have already built, with confidence and peace of mind.”
Outside the boardroom, where do you find inspiration, creativity, and balance?
“Nature has always been my greatest source of balance. My passion for horses has taught me some of my most valuable lessons about leadership.
A horse cannot be controlled through force; trust must be earned. The strongest connection comes through patience, respect, and understanding. I see the same principle in business. Great teams are not built through authority alone— they are built through trust.
Skiing and hiking also remind me that every achievement is reached step by step. They teach discipline, resilience, and the importance of staying calm when conditions change.
Some of the world’s most important decisions are not made in boardrooms. They are made when people finally have space to think. I want to create those moments.
My next venture brings together entrepreneurship, travel, and meaningful conversations. I’m creating private jet retreats for business leaders who understand that the greatest luxury today is not status — it’s freedom. Freedom of movement, freedom of thought, and the freedom to step away from daily demands to make better decisions.”
True. Private aviation isn’t only about speed. What makes your retreats different?
“Private aviation is luxury. Luxury is time.
The resource none of us can buy back. When you combine time, inspiring destinations, and exceptional people, remarkable ideas begin to emerge.
I visioned it as curated experience for founders, investors, family offices and CEOs. Imagine combining: Monaco, Milan, St. Moritz Snow Polo, Tuscany vineyards, Dubai, Iceland, African safari, Formula 1 weekends, Art Basel, Davos-style discussions and private dinners with remarkable entrepreneurs.
The aircraft is simply the vehicle. The real journey happens in the conversations between minds who are building the future.”
When you reflect on your journey, which achievement carries the deepest personal meaning?
“The moments I treasure most are not marked by awards or titles, but by the quiet impact of helping people through life’s defining moments.
I have had the privilege of guiding families and entrepreneurs through financial crises, geopolitical uncertainty, and decisions that shaped generations. Knowing that my advice has helped protect not only businesses and wealth, but also confidence in the future—that is the achievement that means the most to me.
Awards fade.
Impact lasts.”
As an influential woman in international business, what legacy do you hope to leave for the next generation?
“Lead with integrity. The pace of change has never been greater. Technology, artificial intelligence, and global events are transforming the way we live and work. But some principles remain timeless: honesty, resilience, and respect for others. I also hope to inspire women to lead in their own way.
Leadership does not require becoming someone else. The strongest leaders bring their own perspective, their own values, and their own authenticity. Ultimately, success should not only be measured by what we achieve, but by what we contribute.”
If your younger self could see the woman you have become today, what do you think she would say?
“She would probably smile and say:
“Keep dreaming bigger. You are only getting started.””
If there were one philosophy that defines both your life and your career, what would you want the world to remember?
“Markets evolve, opportunities come and go, but values endure. Trust is earned, integrity is non-negotiable, and reputation remains your greatest asset.
To me, success has never been defined solely by achievement, but by the relationships we build, the confidence we inspire, and the way we conduct ourselves when no one is watching.
In a world that often rewards conformity, authenticity is a quiet strength. Your values are not an obstacle to success—they are the foundation of it.
Ultimately, I hope to be remembered not only for what I achieved, but for the principles by which I achieved it.
Stay true to yourself.”
