Window replacement grant scheme extended and upgraded
The Prince’s Government is extending and increasing the financial help available to replace windows, as part of its energy transition programme. The changes will come into effect on 1 September 2025.
Since 2020, over 1,100 windows have been replaced through the scheme. In response to rising market prices, the maximum grant has been increased, with up to €900 per window available in some cases. The aim is to help property owners make their homes more energy efficient and to prepare for upcoming changes to the law on building energy performance.
The scheme will now remain in place until September 2028, when a ban on single-glazed windows in existing buildings comes into force.
All homes built more than ten years ago are eligible for the grants, with extra support for co-owned properties required to comply with Act No. 1,235. The scheme is designed to help property owners get ready for the new regulations and play their part in the energy transition.
