The Monaco Institute for Training in Legal Professions begins the new academic year

The Monaco Institute for Training in Legal Professions (IMFPJ) began its new academic year on Tuesday 2 September 2025 in the presence of H.E. the Minister of State, the Speaker of the National Council, the Chief of Staff of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, the Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

For the first time, the opening ceremony took place at the Rainier III Auditorium, bringing together nearly 200 participants, including lecturers and attendees, members of the judiciary and legal professions, as well as representatives of Monegasque institutions.

In his address, the State Secretary for Justice, Mr Samuel Vuelta Simon, highlighted the growth of the Institute, which now offers 300 hours of training annually, calls upon more than 200 expert lecturers, and records over 1,500 enrolments each year. The Institute also counts more than 10,000 followers from within the Principality and abroad.

Mr Yves Strickler, Scientific Director of the Institute, and Ms Delphine Lanzara, Policy Officer at the Department of Justice, provided new information on the 2025–2026 training programmes and forthcoming publications.

With regard to training, the 2025 academic year marks the launch of three initial training programmes aimed at for competitive examinations and entrance tests (judicial service examination, bar exam, and police lieutenant competitive examination), professional certification in Monegasque law, and an introductory course for non-legal professionals. Numerous continuing training courses will also be organised in partnership with the relevant professional bodies. A symposium is scheduled for June 2026, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, on the effects of rulings of the European Court of Human Rights..

With regard to publications, the new journal Monaco Droit, launched this summer, will publish its second issue in December 2025, featuring a special report on the fight against money laundering. In addition, a new series of works on Monegasque law has been created with LexisNexis publishers. The first volume, devoted to the Judicial Institution of the Principality of Monaco, was published in July 2025. A further volume is planned for October 2025 on the protection of vulnerable adults in France and in the Principality of Monaco, a key issue for the judiciary.
